For all those who have asked where I get my colour (C-41) medium-format film processed, I use a small independent lab - Brecon Photo Centre (With whom I have no commercial arrangement, other than as a regular customer).

The owner Judith and her staff are wonderfully knowledgeable and helpful, and it's simply the cheapest and best place I've ever found. For those not fortunate enough to live in Wales, they'll take care of everything for you by post and online too, at very reasonable cost. You can find them here:

And now the bit about me

Writer & Photographer.

Member of the UK National Union of Journalists for last 26 years.
Married (to the same woman) for a little longer.
3 grown up children, and two (wonderful) little grandsons in America.
Just getting over a rather prolonged and nasty illness (nothing terminal - I've been told?), and have discovered a renewed enthusiasm for old film cameras in my convalescence ~ so most of my stuff on Flickr is the product of fixing-up and messing about with those, when well enough.

Can't shake off an abiding love of film, however good digital seems to get (and let's face it - it's bloody good now!).

Love the way that the older you get, the madder you get (at least in my case), to the point where insanity feels like the most profound and insightful wisdom.
Insanity?... Wisdom?... Perhaps they're the same thing?

    Mackeson says:

" ... you can't speak of richard burton and dylan thomas without uttering the name dai zardoz in the same breath, it's like, a trilogy, or a trinity, or something like that, if you know what i'm saying.

... well, maybe, i'm getting mixed up with leon uris, ... where was i? oh yeah, ... my point is that dai zardoz he is one of those rare persons who has a brutally honest view of the world and it is reflected in his photographs, and maybe one day i'll figure out what "VEB" means."

    >chercher la femme< says:

"of zardoz's photography, i have this to say: "in much madness is divinest sense/. . . (and) in much sense the starkest madness (. . .)."; and of zardoz himself, that he is nothing less than a gem of a man
    and friend."

    DCF_pics says:

"Where are the days when pixels where round? Where are the photographer's who shoot with their mind to freeze a story in frame? Where are the theorists that readily discuss and dissect an image just to understand our feeble world a little better? Where are the artists who can make a sausage look sexy? I know only one place; David's enchanted realm of pictures, here at Zardoz's Gravyboat VEB."
