Shibuya Craziness #2

I often tell people all of this started with an accidental shot of my ex girlfriend but that's not entirely true.

Prior to coming to Tokyo (back in the good old days of film and darkrooms) I both studied and worked as a photographer in Australia, but I really only saw it as a hobby that sometimes made me a little money on the side when someone wanted some cheap wedding shots or something.

I then forgot all about photography until I came to Japan when, one lazy evening toward the beginning of 2006, I picked up my little "point and shoot"and started taking photos of my (now ex) girlfriend. What started out as a few snapshots quickly became more complicated. Then I remembered just how much fun it all was before.

After that things just kind of escalated. Nowadays most of my work is commercially driven, however I still like to experiment from time to time, try things a little bit different.

Here you will find a mix of all my model/studio work including a lot of stuff from those early days with my crappy little Pentax Optio (seriously don't buy one of those). While I would like to consider myself at least semi-pro nowadays I am still far from happy with my technique, and I'm still trying new ways of doing things. Some work, some don't. A lot of the time it's trial and error and I'm learning all the time.

Thanks to:
Dan Perez - for his continuing support, guidance and advice.
Remi Asada - for being such a wonderful model and muse. After breaking up with my ex I may have given up on photography if it hadn't been for Remi.

Please note, if you add me as a contact the chances are I won't add you back. I get so many contact requests it has just become impossible to check them all. If you want me to add you back, check out your work or whatever, send me a message too. I usually take time out for those. The automated friend request messages... they tend to get deleted.

A few does and don't's:

DON'T show me pictures of your dick. What on earth makes you think I want to see it? Keep it in your pants boys. I've got one too and really they're not that interesting.

DON'T leave creepy/skeevy comments on my images. This pisses me off like you wouldn't believe. Do this and you will find yourself blocked faster than you can say "...". Get it?

DON'T send skeevy emails to my models. Nothing pisses me off more. Yes they're pretty girls and I'm a lucky guy blah blah blah... Get over it and move on.

DON'T leave notes unless it's absolutely crucial. They irritate me.

DO leave comments, especially if you have something insightful to share.

DO "favorite" my images. It's great for the artistic ego.

DO send me flickr mail. I am actually a nice guy and enjoy talking to new people. If you have any questions or just want to say "Hi" then flickr mail me.

DO check out my other accounts:

"I don't know if I could say something about a "Master" like him, but the only appropriate words i could write are these:
His eyes are like brushes for Leonardo da Vinci; he use these "tools" to let us enjoy his ART!"

"Nathan really is progressing as a photographer. Its been fantastic to be around to see him come out with all these beautiful images. His portraiture, architectural, landscapes and his everyday shots are something to admire. And I love the fact that I can call him a friend. Love you honey, keep up the good work."

"Nate has inspired me to move beyond street photography and try my hand in the studio. His images are raw, intimate, brave and convey an honesty that is missing in 99.99% of the studio work that I see."

"Nate and Misa are a match made in heaven. A stunning beauty and a photographer with a keen eye for the female form. Together, the pair produce a wonderful array of imagery with different colour tones, B&W images and a dazzling collection of locations, prop, lighting and angles.

These photos are lessons in glamour photography.

...and thats just the start. Nate and Misa have their own photostreams dedicated to other photographic styles with even ore wonderful sights to behold."

    Meta-morphosis says:

"Some photographers take reality...and impose the domination of their own thought and spirit. Others come before reality more tenderly and a photograph to them is an instrument of love and revelation. E.C.A. has a quiet sensitive ability to reveal the wonder and beauty of female form stripping them of all the defense of clothing and yet building their strength through his obvious high respect. An outstanding photographer, of whom I have the honour of calling a friend."
