Exploration Phase 2's photostream |
Artist Nickova Behling initiated the project Exploration, working in collaboration with artist Sue Sargeaunt, to provide opportunities for people with learning disabilities to take part in an exciting visual art project. This included people on the autistic spectrum and people with mild to moderate learning disabilities such as people classed as having ‘challenging behavior’ and ‘multiple needs’. The project aimed to help people express ideas and make informed choices through an expressive, variable - painting based - creative process.
Please visit the website link on the right for more information on the project including some of the diaries.
The artists are planning presentations and exhibitions of the process, methods used and outcomes of Exploration, for art colleges, art organisations and universities in the Southeast region of England. This is to share and discuss outcomes and to encourage a debate of the possibilities of involving people with mild to moderate learning disabilities in visual art processes.
These exhibitions will begin in Autumn 2011. The project is directed by artist Nickova Behling, who is working in collaboration with Sue Sargeaunt (artist and co-ordinator) and Marianne Ten Kate (fundraising associate).
On this Flicker site you will mainly see work produced by the artists during the collaborative process. Organised in 'Sets', www.flickr.com/photos/explophase2/sets/
Please go to Marianne ten Kate or the group 'Exploration Phase 2' www.flickr.com/groups/1625195@N23/, to view the work produced by participants of Exploration.
