I've been interested in photography since I was in high school. Never really got serious about learning until about 7 years ago.

Never had my own camera until now. I use a Canon SD880IS / IXUS870IS as my main camera which I try to bring everywhere.

Never owned an SLR. Someday I will.

I used to obsessed about owning an SLR, I even checked out the specs all the time.

But the reason I bought a P&S camera and not an SLR was because I once saw a bunch of photos of a band singing in a bar. The only light that was available was a spotlight and a few colored lights. Other than that, the bar was completely dark. The photographer only had a P&S film camera with no zoom and no flash. Just a prime lens.

Those were some of the best photos I've seen. The photographer said he left his SLR at home and only had that P&S with him. But you wouldn't know the photos were taken with a P&S if he didn't mention it.

That's when I learned that the photographer is more important than the camera.

Right now, I just shoot.

My philosophy about photography is "It's not the camera, it's the photographer".

I love what Chase Jarvis a professional photographer from Seattle says, "The best camera is the one that's with you".

Although he has tons of expensive professional camera equipment, he has a ton of great pictures using just his iPhone. That's a 2 megapixel camera that a lot of people are complaining about.

That's what I try to do. I don't obsess about the gear, I just work with what I have. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

It doesn't matter if you have an expensive camera or not, if you don't use it, it's useless.

Just go out and shoot.
