An America experiencing mid-life in The Middle Kingdom, living in, working for and learning about China. I agreed to teach English to the masses to get here. I also take pictures.

Robert Heinecken once said, "Many pictures turn out to be limp translations of the known world instead of vital objects which create an intrinsic world of their own. There is a vast difference between taking a picture and making a photograph."

I am trying to learn how to make photographs.

"Michael is a photographer whose photographs leave something special in your heart. Taking a good photo is not so difficult;in fact it is so easy; but shooting the "real" emotions, not poses, is so difficult. Some people feel very happy to shoot a good street photography in which there is a poor beggar. They shoot and then forget!.No human touch...No feelings...No real "care"!. And some shoot for the sake of getting the real emotions, feel sad, feel "human" , feel everything that a human can feel when shooting..He is a real example for being a good photographer and being a good person. I love his photographs; and adore his style. I am honored to be one of his friends here in flickr. Call me whenever you come to Turkey, there is -always- gonna be a home for you here. Now for the people who visit his stream:You will learn a lot, you will love him and his photos. He is a must see here in flickr. Just keep in touch with him."

"I think of Michael as the king of color, although he does everything with great techincal skill and artistry. His vision for average people in the every day moment is exemplary. He brings the viewer to that moment and lets you experience it through his eyes. Every image has the ability to create stories in your mind, about the people and the places he's experiencing. I feel as if I have traveled through his world by viewing his work. He has a rare gift for instinctively recognising what so many miss. I look forward to every new image he posts."

    "Hi Micheal.
I should have written this weeks ago. You are one of the few people i have come across that is so sincere, in your photography and your comments, to your subject matter and the other Flickr members whom you visit. I visit your stream at times when i need something to make me smile. (and even when i don't!) When i joined, you were the first to comment on my stream and you seems like a million miles away. Now i feels like you are just around the corner! Sincere thanks from me to you for all your encouragement. It's good to know you. With or without Flickr."
