I'm a socio-cultural anthropologist, and I specialise in the Southeast Asia region.

After working in Indonesia (Jakarta and the province of East Kalimantan) for about 6 years, I moved to Australia in 1997 to take on a PhD in anthropology.

My anthropological research took me back to Indonesia for one more year while I investigated a local settlement adjacent to a large-scale international mining venture located in East Borneo. I submitted my dissertation at
Monash University in Melbourne, Australia.

    Alan Thiznau Photography says:

"Well, James is a very talented photographer and I really admire him. I am always looking forward to what he produces because I know something amazing will be in his photostream. What I find really remarkable is the way he captures the feeling of surfing. I feel very touched by his surf shots. I hope someday we can hang out some time...in Chile !!

    Un abrazo compadre"
