ESAFF is a network of grassroots small scale farmers organisations working in 12 countries of Eastern and Southern Africa (ESA) region. The movement is a small scale farmer initiated, farmer led and farmer owned. Its purpose is to enable small farmers in Eastern and Southern Africa to speak as a united voice so that issues, concerns and recommendations become an integral part of policies and practices at national, regional/international levels. ESAFF started in 2002 parallel to the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) and was registered in 2007 in Tanzania. ESAFF has an independent regional body made of farmer leaders from 12 countries. The secretariat of the headquarters is in Morogoro, Tanzania The secretariat is led by the Coordinator.
