Erika Rand is a filmmaker, photographer and art director. She has degrees in Anthropology, Spanish literature, Fine Art, Graphic Design (Parsons School of Design) and Filmmaking (New York Film Academy). Erika is currently producing a feature film on Tibet. Previously, she directed a short film on climate change for US high schools, in collaboration with the Alliance for Climate Education and Free Range Studios. Prior to that, she was a film curator for Pangea Day, an international peaceful day of film, which appeared on millions of screens around the world for the first time last May.
Her film work includes: Documentary Feature "American Cannibal" (Camera Operator), GNN / Video the Vote’s "Why Would Anyone Want to Stop You From Voting?" (Stop Motion Photography), Deepak Chopra’s Alliance for a New Humanity (Cinematographer), Chicago 10 & Participant Productions Social Action Initiatives (Cinematographer), Rene Risque & the Art Lovers w moby (Cinematographer), Documentary Feature "Say My Name" (Camera Operator), and "Pigeon Spirit" (Director / Cinematographer / Editor). Pigeon Spirit received Zoom-in’s Award for “Best Cinematography” by panel judges including Ellen Kuras and Albert Maysles.
Her documentary photography includes: Cirque du Soleil, Costa Rican Ministery for Peace, Elie Wiesel, Jane Fonda’s Women in Media, John Trudell, Participant Productions, Slava’s SnowShow, and Woody Allen.
