Typical urbanite living in San Francisco.
Flickr is where I exhibit all of my non-orchid photos and a select subset of orchid photos. My two big interests are flowers/plants/orchids and graffiti/street art. I have a minor interest in skyscraper/urban scenes and food photography.
I have a big orchid/botanical travels photo site - www.orchidphotos.org for those who enjoy looking at flowers.
I've lived in Austin, Texas, grew up in the suburbs of Birmingham, Alabama, and was born in Bangor, Maine.
Here is my partner's Flickr if you're curious.
The flashy GIFs and bad JPG avatars used to spam for other groups have finally gotten to me. No personal offense intended, but I now delete all comments with one of those spam images and I will no longer comment on a photo containing a group spam image. If you repeatedly comment on my photos using these annoyances, I will block you. Sorry, nothing personal.

(Visiting Hong Kong makes all of China light up. China is on my list of places to visit, but as I was in Hong Kong before reunification with China, I really don't consider that I've really visited China proper. One day!)

"A Prince among orchid afficianados; an orchid "geek" of the highest order-do take a bow, Eric; AND one of the nicest people and first of the Flickr folks to come to my rescue on putting the scientific Latin-based names to my "photo"captured beauties, mostly orchids, carnivorous and flowering plants of the western highlands here in the Isthmus of Panama, of which I call home.
Eric has continued to delight me with his absolutely "drop-dead" gorgeous and extremely diverse collection of photos of his lovelies-all VERY well photographed, by the way.
If you love orchids, DO look to Eric's Flickr collection where you'll be led to his other website and resource list; his encyclopedic knowledge is essential to anyone wanting to venture deeper into the "rabbit's hole" of "Orchidom"; follow his lead and you're in for an exotic adventure ( ;~)>"10th October, 2006

"I especially like it when Eric has attended an orchid show and we get to see the orchids. It is obviouse he derives a great deal of pleasure from photography, his photos are excellent.
Eric is a very much appreciated co-admin of the very popular FLOWERS group, with an astounding knowledge of plants : ).
Thanks for sharing your wonderful photos, your time and your knowledge.
Yours in friendship, Chrissie"10th June, 2006

van swearingen says:
"Eric has an astonishing encyclopedic knowledge of nearly every orchid that exists and an exquisite eye for photographing them.
At times, the images he has captured are breathtaking and achingly beautiful.
The treat is that these images are also identified and tagged. Family, genera, species, and cultivar, often with a credit for the hybridizer and grower too. This makes Eric's photostream a very useful database in addition to being a joy to browse.
As co-moderator of several groups with Eric, I have to say I'm impressed with his savvy and diplomatic skills - I can get a little brusque...
Thank you Eric, for your dedication, taste, eloquence, and for sharing these beautiful images!"20th October, 2005
