Erich C. Piper (1930-1979) was a fashion and fine-arts photographer who was active from 1950 until 1967 in New York City.

An important note: virtually all of these photographs were mounted on board that was not archival, with non-archival double-face tape and sometimes even rubber cement, which is the worst non-archival material possible. They started falling apart about forty years ago, and it is a constant and expensive effort to stabilize and preserve these photographs. The photographs themselves, however, were properly developed and printed on fiber-based paper, and have lasted well in spite of the non-archival mounting.

The lesson is: Always use archival materials when creating, storing, and displaying your photographs and artwork.
