I've been interested in photography since my teenage years. Back then I used a Kodak Instamatic camera of some sort that shot 110 film. I didn't get into 35mm film photography until about 20 years ago (1988 or 1989) with a Canon EOS 850. I did not keep that camera too long before I upgraded to the EOS-1 (Canon's top-of-the-line film camera at the time). I have taken many pictures with that camera over the years. But I sold it eventually to upgrade to the EOS-1v. In 2000, I bought my first digital camera, a 2.5 megapixel Olympus C-2500L. In 2005 or so, I sold the EOS-1v, and bought the Canon EOS-10D (which I've subsequently sold). In early 2008, I bought the Canon EOS-5D. In late 2009, I bought the Canon EOS-5D Mark II (I have sold the Canon EOS-5D). I've also had several point-and-shoot cameras, most recently a Canon SX10 IS (and previously a PowerShot A710IS and A650IS). I had decided for awhile to devote my resources to my DSLR, but then decided that I could use a small point-and-shoot for times when I cannot carry the large camera. I now have a Canon PowerShot SX210IS. I mainly enjoy landscape/nature photography and portraiture. I do not earn my living from photography, but I have been the primary photographer for about four weddings of friends (and also prime videographer for about a half-dozen weddings).

I am the creator of a Flickr group devoted to the Canon TS-E 17mm f/4L tilt-shift lens. I am also the creator of another group devoted to color temperature meters.

My other hobbies include geocaching (which I resumed with a vengeance after an eight-year hiatus; my caching name is erayboul), shooting video (primarily of amateur radio things), computer programming at the hobbyist level, and, of course, amateur radio. I've been licensed since 1991 as N8OIF.
