After searching for a reliable and well designed place where I could redundantly store my photo collection to insure against possible loss, I happened upon Flickr.

Sharing some of my favorite photos with the world was an afterthought (shame on me), but now I am glad I did, as I have met some nice people, and I always value comments, both constructive and appreciative.

I was born and raised in Canada, lived in California for three years, then returned to Canada. Both locations afford plenty of opportunity for shutterbugs. I have no illusions about my own skills. I am an amateur, and I hope to improve as I observe others work, and receive advice about my own work.

I suppose I tend towards being a "purist," if that is a proper term, as most of my photos that I publish are straight from the camera, unaltered except for resizing, the occasional cropping, and some sharpening, when needed.

That being said, I am very impressed with some of the enhancements I have seen others do with their photos. In the future, I may venture into that territory, and lend an artistic flair to my otherwise "neutral" expressions.

The "purist" in me enjoys the accurate color balance of my older Kodak P880 camera, and it is as close to WYSIWYG as I have yet experienced in a budget camera. Lately I have been enjoying a Panasonic LX1 with a true 16:9 aspect ratio CCD. This fills a HD TV screen perfectly. One can get good results from an inexpensive camera, these days. Power to the people!

Thank you for stopping by, and I hope that your Flickr experience is as rewarding for you as it has been for me.
