Craig is a licensed professional engineer in 10 states and is a LEED accredited professional. Mr. Tarr has been working in the engineering industry for 20 years and is nationally recognized for his expertise in the field of mechanical engineering as applied to the built environment.

Mr. Tarr holds a BSME degree from Colorado State University with an emphasis in solar and wind engineering.

Mr. Tarr founded Energy Concepts in 1994 as a mechanical consulting engineering firm and has directed its operations ever since, including its 2006 transition into renewable energy design, facilitation and installation.

Craig oversees all aspects of the company and is responsible for engineering and project design, product selection and appraisal, energy sector awareness, as well as strategy, oversight and facilitation of large-scale commercial projects.

Craig practices living with a small footprint near River Falls, Wisconsin, having installed a 2.2 kW solar electric system on his home, providing him and his family with 75% of their energy needs.

He is happily married to his life-partner Kathy, and together they are raising two wonderful children, Amory and Arriel. In his spare time, you will find Craig carefully monitoring the front tire of his racing road bike or deftly carving figure 8’s into downhill slopes on his snowboard.

Craig’s commitment to a green and healthy lifestyle is ongoing and unstinting, and he is always on the look-out for new and better ways to realize simple solutions or complex technology in pursuit of a fulfilling and sustainable life.

In 2005, Craig was accepted into The Climate Project, Al Gore’s initial training program for 1,000 citizens from around the United States. Craig has utilized that training to talk to audiences around the Midwest about our country’s need to consume less fossil fuel and move to a sustainable footing using renewable energy sources.
