Banned in Singapore, incited riots in a Melbourne club, a metal elbow replacement and the death of a drummer and best mate…the four piece Australian rock band EMPRA has risen from the ashes of rock’n'roll tragedies that would have ended the dreams of lesser bands.
Combining the explosive energy of the Foo Fighters, Weezer on steroids and a Green Day arse kicking, the four piece Melbourne outfit are winning fans all across Victoria and nationwide via YouTube webcasts with their infectious live show and debut single “Like A Runway”.
The EMPRA evolution began with Sanny’s Singapore punk rock band Boredphucks. Topping the charts, outselling the Backstreet Boys, playing a sold out tour and trashing a Tower Records at an in-store appearance. Boredphucks were finally banned after rioting during their set at a festival appearance.
The band sought artistic asylum in Melbourne, regrouping as The SUNS. Releasing two EP’s selling 5,000 copies in Melbourne alone. Smashing over 250 shows in three years, supporting Presidents of the United States of America and touring South East Asia until the tragically unexpected death of Wayne Thunder.
Three trying years passed but refusing to give up, Sanny’s creative energies produced an delectable array of rocking tunes, tasty riffs, memorable vocals and melodies, ready to be laid down.
Hooking up with rock solid bass player Matt from The Final Eclipse, the two mates finalised pre-production on the debut album Your’s Sincerely. Enter Spyder, top Melbourne session drummer and former member of Taxiride. The sessions had such vibe, energy and attitude that Spyder signed on. 27 Melband applicants later, guitar whiz Gaulty rocked the audition, completing the line up.
EMPRA has risen from the ashes of punkrock notoriety, the perils of the rock n roll road and has begun its relentless journey to rock the masses, kick they’re arses and lift their spirits.
