Emma Hartvig's photostream

My name is Emma Hartvig and I am a photographer currently located in London, UK. My work is based on my passion for film and cinematography. The storytelling and manipulation of vision you have in your hands as a filmmaker fascinates me, but the position as a photographer who can create film stills is what I love to do. I'm very struck by the still image, and I'm interested in the limitations of a photograph in terms of its narrative capacity to have an image that's frozen in time, and there's no before or after. These photographs of mine capture isolated moments with no past and no future, and an imaginary possibility hangs over them like a pregnant pause, playing to photography's narrative strength.
