Emily Quinton. Get yours at bighugelabs.com/flickr

I am currently busy working on my PhD at the University of Birmingham. I am researching ornamental plant hunting and the international environmental legilsation that surrounds it. As you will see from my photographs my research means that I spend a lot of time in botanic gardens. In fact I am becoming addicted to plants and the photographing of them.
In this stream you will see a selection of ideas, experiments and a glimpse into my life. My best images are saved for my portfolio flickr stream, which you may also like to visit!

And...I am a very happy new mum!!

A selection of my work is available to buy through my company Emily Quinton Photography.

"I once told a friend I was interested in photography, she replied take shots of everything except flowers, they look so lame when photographed, and I actually agreed with her on that until I saw your photostream. It changed my mind, flowers are not lame after all.
    All the best Emily..."

    Houser says:

"Floral shots always run the risk of becoming trite or cliché. Typically because people approach the subject from the same angle.

Emily's work is a breath of fresh air in this arena. It is often said of her photos that they are 'intimate' or 'personal', and perhaps that is the best compliment one could ever receive of their work. Emily masterfully casts aside our impressions of some of the world around us, and brings us closer to the wonders that it provides. Such a delightful artist!"

"Emily has a natural gift when it comes to photographing flowers; her images are always poetic and evoke feelings of nostalgia and beauty. Her photographs have a soft, subtle nature that propell them above and beyond your average flower macro and put them in a class of their own. Every image in her photostream is breathtaking and her angles and perspective make each picture a unique treasure here on flickr. bravo emily, and keep up the amazing work!"

"This is the photostream if you're seeking the unusual perspectives, the intersting lines and shapes, and the most brilliant lighting techniques. Emily is not only very good at all of this :) she's probably the BEST there is.

I once called her the "Flower Queen". I honestly think this nickname is not doing her justice. I'm not sure what nickname will do, but let me tell you something!

IF YOU HAVEN'T YET SEEN HER FLOWER SHOTS, THEN YOU HAVEN'T YET SEEN FLOWERS!!!

just browse her photostream, and you'll know what i'm talking about :)
    God bless my friend."

"When I see Emily's picture in her little icon thingy, I see sunshine. When I see her work, I see a thousand sun shines.

She is able to capture light and hope and peace in her fantastic pictures of beauty.

I hereby dub her the flower girl.

    Amazingly gifted master craftswoman!"
