At only 18 years old, it's actually quite difficult to write about my position within photography as I've so much to experience and learn.

Emily Marie Anderson is a hobbyist photographer based in Southampton, UK interested within the fields of Fashion, Beauty, Editorial & Portraiture. Currently works both freelance and within a small photography company offering event/venue photography.

-Published in 'Face on Magazine' with a showcase of my work & an interview

-Had my work in the 1st Limited Edition Issue of Kerouacs Dog Mazgazine-(Described as a bold and exciting platform for new writing, design, illustration, photography, architecture, fashion, and creativity in general)
-Ranked 3rd winner of the 'International Teen fashion photo competition' with my photo exhibited in the JakArt International Arts festival 2009 & to be published in the winners book 2010
-Was the Miami fashion week International Student Fashion Photgrapher 2010

I have a fascination with beauty and would describe my work as an expression of subjects caught up in an almost transcendent experience, like an untouchable and slightly crazed realm....

At only 18 years old, it's actually quite difficult to write about my position within photography as I've so much to experience and learn.

After doing some brief amateur modeling around the time I was 15, I really wanted to partake in what was going on behind the camera. I started on my journey with photography by taking lots of take self-portraits and photographing some of my close friends spontaneously, for pure fun. In my early teens I took a great interest in photoshop & I'm self taught in my digital retouching, something which has progressed significantly alongside my photography- Photography appealed to me because I love seeing the outcome of the shoots and can relish in the freedom I have with being able to photograph anything in any way and making it my own. I found planning what kooky things I could shoot and how people would respond to it immensely enjoyable and I started developing my self-portraits to share online with like-minded people, mostly photographers amongst the flickr community. With interest being shown I felt encouraged and inspired to shoot more and progress with my work & at this point it started to become something more personal for me. It all swayed me into taking photography at college but I felt restricted with only myself and close ones to photograph and and so after demonstrating my passion and creativity in my self portraits I ventured out taking photographs of aspiring models and collaborating with makeup artists. This helped in landing me an internship with established fashion & celebrity photographer John Wright in Shoreditch-East London, a great opportunity which enabled progressive learning within this art form. I am now at the stage where I am trying to learn as much as I can about the art form independently through reading and testing things out.

I feel that I've always had an admiration for fashion and beauty- two things I enjoy witnessing and trying to replicate, especially as a photography hobbyist.

I'm here to share my work with others, to learn, be inspired and grow.

I'm currently studying Philosophy at Uni but continue to shoot in my spare time:).
