A project by Albert Gusi

“Shining little suns in Tarrega’s sky” is an artistic project by Albert Gusi which will open the festival Emergent-Lleida 2010. The objective of the project is to develop an activity linked with photography and contemporary art in which the participants belong to groups at risk of social exclusion.

This workshop / artistic intervention is a part of the INCLUSION AND PARTICIPATION program that, for the third consecutive year, is put forward by the festival and has as a main objective:
To set participatory strategies designed to ensure that these groups become protagonists. Through workshops or specific programs, individuals usually disconnected from the world of art and often even from their own society may discover new worlds, channel energies and enhance their self-esteem. Additionally, with the tools provided to them, they will produce unprecedented and very private views about their own worlds, making their experiences more understandable in the eyes of society in general.

To carry out the Inclusion and Participation Program, EMERGENT-LLEIDA has selected Associació Alba from Tàrrega, an association (partnership) housing two hundred people with intellectual disabilities or mental illnesses, as an ideal entity to develop the artistic project. The dynamism of the association, its commitment to society and the fact that this year it celebrates its 35th anniversary have led EMERGENT-LLEIDA to select it to participate in the 2010 festival.
