I was born in San Salvador, El Salvador. The streets of San Salvador taught me photography. I moved to Lawrence, Kansas to study journalism in 1993. Returned to El Salvador where my work illustrated more than six books and was presented at local venues. In 1998, I moved back to the United States to study (again) and I have been around a lot of places since then: Louisville, Cincinnati, Saint Louis, Chicago. Currently, I live in Gaithersburg, MD where I am hitting the streets again with my cameras (holgaroid, Graflex SpeedGraphic, d300, Polaroid pinhole, Cambo 4x5, Mamiya RB67, Nikon F5, etc).
I am kind of a vagabond with a camera. I drive or walk for hours around abandoned neighborhoods, cemeteries, parks, or open fields in the country side. My work is a constant experiment that combines what I capture in the field and what I manipulate in front of a computer or through alt processes.

Starting projects with film and my new enlargers (Beseler 45 and my favorite the Omega B2 with a cold light). Film is inspiring me a lot these days:

As a new addition to my website, I am blogging about my experiences of going back to film-based photography. After years of using mostly digital cameras, I have started to use film, develop it, enlarge it, and print it.
Here is where I document that journey:

One of the questions that people ask me the most is why i take pictures of cemeteries. I found this quote that explains my fascination with these unique places:

"Cemeteries reflect so much about the place you're in," Florence said, describing the ones in New Orleans as "repositories of thousands of years of traditions and legacies." (Robert Florence of Historic New Orleans Walking Tours ).
You get a lot about a city by visiting its cemeteries
