I started out with a 35mm Nikon N55 with a 28-80 kit lens. I found it was difficult to learn how each adjustment affected each exposure. I really liked it when I had a photo turn out nice but they were few and far between. I was tired of shelling out $$ for several bad pics just to get 1 or 2 good photos. I decided the only cost effective way for me to learn, (even the basics) of photography was to go digital.

I bought my Nikon D80 in November 08 and LOVE it.

Capturing candid moments of people and animals is my favorite type of photography. I have found that animals and children are easiest for capturing the spirit of the moment. As we grow older, we become more aware of our faults and some of us tend to focus on them to the point that the thought of a camera sends shivers through them.

I currently have a small studio set up in a spare room in my apartment. I started out learning the effects of different lighting scenarios. Now I'm attempting to learn how to naturally pose people. I hope to some day use this space and knowledge to help fund my hobby. ;-)

My other camera equipment includes the 18-135 "kit" lens, a Nikkor 50mm 1.8D (Everyone should have one.), and a manual focus Soligor 70-205 3.5 with macro (Best $30 I've ever spent. A truely great lens). On the way is a Nikkor 35-70mm f/2.8

I recently invested two Nikon SB-600s. They go everywhere the camera goes, and the camera goes everywhere that I go. As far as lighting, I also have some cheap PT-04 "poverty wizards" to go along with a few old manual strobes.
