I'm a born art-lover. I love stories (and therefore lies) and fancy (in verb form) colors. The first set of books I loved reading (or looking at) was the set of Compton's Encyclopedia my uncle (who was a public school school teacher) kept in their house when we were kids. There I discovered that Michaelangelo, Leonardo, Raphael, and Donatello were not teenagers nor mutants nor ninjas nor turtles. It was also the book to teach me (although I wasn't really to digest them all) about colors and the difference between their additive and subtractive properties. To this book I owe my appreciation of color.

Right now, I am more of into literature. Sometimes I write, sometimes I join workshops, sometimes I win writing and poetry performance contests, and sometimes I teach poetry. Also, this is the field that gives me rackets the most.

Recently, I have gotten more and more into the field of linguistics. ("A voice is calling...") A good phrase to explain this would be, "It really just interests me." Linguistics seems to be out of the "art league" but it's actually regional Philippine literature that has brought to my attention the richness of non-Tagalog literature and the potential of uncovering more ought-to-become-classic texts by studying these literatures in their original language. In high school, I was also into drawings, and I made a few good pieces (by my standards, which may be lower or higher than yours) which none of the Flickr community will ever see. Perhaps this love for the visual arts is what's responsible for my current interest in photography.

I currently own a Nikon D40. My only lenses are the 18-55mm kit lens and the Nikkor 55-200mm VR. I have an SB400 Speedlight, and an ML-L3 remote control.

UPDATE: I now own a Tamron 28-75mm f2.8. I also sold my Nikkor 55-200mm VR and SB400 Speedlight in exchange for a FalconEye studio strobes set consisting of 3 SB150 heads with stands, umbrella, softbox, and barndoor.
