"I never want to see a picture of the electrocuted girl posed with anyone else. Her solitude is her strength, and the moments of brilliance we see are clearly born out of many more moments we do not see. You can't divide up her photos and say: "these ones are happy, these are sad, and so forth..." Rather, each exposure is just that---her introduction to an emotion that we didn't know we couldn't describe until, by her photograph, she gives us its name. Each frame, a mirror."
