I remember getting my first camera when I was about 10 years old; it was an oblong Kodak camera with a flash, and it was red. I took pictures of flowers in my grandmother's garden and of my paper dolls on her porch. I tried to stand them up just so, like models, and I even shot photos of them near the sandbox and in the grass. I had fun with it and have loved photography ever since.

In the years since I have taken many a photo, and in the last few years they have mostly been of my children. As a teenager, my first job was taking antique photos at Tintype, an antique photography studio at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, and even developed and printed those photos on tin (because they were sold as tintype photos). At 17 I did a holiday season with Sears Portrait Studio and afterwards found myself disenchanted and discouraged with the studio world. My dream was to be a wedding photographer, but my many majors in college were anything but photography.

When I became a mother I got back into photography. There are only a few things better than preserving beautiful memories!

By day, I work as a journalist, wife and mommy to four. Doesn't leave much time for anything else!

"I've known Echo for so long and she has always been a wonderful friend. A wonderful mother too. Her blog is one of the reasons why I decided to make one of my own. I wish I had her dedication for keeping it up. ;) I admire her creativity, passion for always trying to be better at what she does. I love watching her babies grow up before my very eyes, both in print and in pictures."
