I'm an avid Amateur Photographer who enjoy's mostly nature and landscape photography but enjoy trying many different aspects and techniques. Photograpthy get's me outdoors, keeps me active and find it a good way to relax.

I have many interest including photography, aviation, motorsports, motorcycles, hiking, biking, canoeing, exploring and geocaching. I also have a creative side and enjoy creating a wide assortment of things. I'm also a very technical person enjoying learning how things work and tinkering.

I have always like taking pictures and got my first camera as a teen for Christmas, a polaroid instantmatic. I never had this long as film was expensive so I didn't shoot many pictures until in my early 20's when I bought and starting shooting in 1986 with a Kodak VR35 35mm P&S. At that time I was just shooting snaps and memories. In 1996 it got wet and ruined on a canoe trip down the Churchill River. From there I bought a used Pentax MV 35mm SLR and then switched to digital in 2002 with an Olympus 4000 Digital P&S.

In 2006 the P&S wasn't satisifying my needs anymore, decided to get a little more serious about photography and reluctantly parted with a big chunk of money, upgraded to a DSLR and bought a Pentax K10D as I already had Pentax lenses.

In the spring of 2009 I switched to Canon as I was thinking about putting more money into upgrading lens and accessories so considered the bigger picture , upgrade options and wanted a full frame sensor camera. So I wanted the canon 5D but thought it too expensive and bought a Canon 40D to start me off and try the Canon stuff. About a month later I caved in and a month later bought the Canon 5D full frame DSLR.

As with many of my upgrades, I've initally only bought what I thought I needed or could afford, only to end up buying what I really wanted. This has applied to cameras, lenses, tripods, filters and accessories. It's true what they say. "Buy the best gear you can afford" because you'll actually waste more money in the long run doing small upgrades. And it makes no sense to buy an expensive camera only to skimp on cheap tripods, lenses and filters.

In early 2010, as my knowledge and interest was expanding plus wanting to try something new, bought a Pentax 645N, 6x45 medium format film camera. They have come down a lot in price with film not being mainstream anymore. Bought this to both try it and also see what kind of quality I could get out of a medium format negative plus shooting film requires more though for each shot and hoping to inhance my digital shooting. I like it and has a nice solid mechanical feel to it plus feels more serious knowing you have to make every shot count. With digital, you can just snap away until you get it right.

As much as I liked my Canon 5D, I wanted to upgrade to the current model, 5D Mark II, so in Jun 2010, after having my 5D listed for sale for several months, finally found a buyer who appreciated the camera for what it was and willing to pay for what it was worth, sold it and upgraded..

I didn't really need the upgrade but wanted it, has more resolution and features, figured if I was putting a lot of work into my photography and it being my major hobby, decided to get the good stuff.
