There are 2 main reasons why, you are here and reading this, first is that you saw one (or more) of my photographs on my Flickrstream and then followed a link to my profile page, the other scenario would be, that I added you as a contact, and now you are just curious about who this guy (that’s me) is. I like to introduce and think of, myself as a “Photographic artist”, and more often than not, I shoot with the intent of creating art. I am also in love with, smoke photography, although I haven’t made any "smoke art", (that’s what I like to call it), recently, but I do have several hundred unprocessed smoke photographs, stashed in my hard drive. I hope to start reviewing and processing these photographs, sometime soon.

Although I have been on and around on Flickr, for almost 5 years now, however it was on Mar. 6, 2010 that I upgraded to a Pro. Subscription. During the second half of 2009, I went through a nasty phase of “Writers block”, when I lost all inspiration to shoot photographs. All I did during most of these 6 months, was to play Grand Theft Auto – San Andreas, I stopped playing only to avoid developing the “Carpel Tunnel Syndrome” ,
which is bad, particularly for photographers, as it limits the use and efficiency of the “trigger finger” and the wrist. In 2009 my last post, was on July 10th, for the first 2 weeks of January, I only posted stuff from my archives. Then on January 14, the Kumbh mela, started in Haridwar. The Kumbh is the largest, religious gathering of humankind, on earth. This is when I “got my groove back”, and I started shooting again. Since then I have made several trips to the Kumbh mela, and shot hundreds of photographs. Moreover, it’s only in the last few weeks, that I have started to develop my own personal style of shooting and post-processing my work. I am completely a Pro-Photoshop person, and unlike some purist photographers, I don’t have any moral/ethical dilemmas, in manipulating my photographs. For me, Photoshop and Lightroom are just tools, to help me create “art”. I have no hesitation in cloning (removing) an element from the frame, and I am equally at ease while blending in elements from 2 different shots, to create a completely new photograph. I shoot “for the joy of it”, and not for documentary purposes, so I am not really concerned, about the veracity/authenticity of my work.

I have decided, against posting my work in “award groups”, (w.e.f. Mar15, 2010). As I have come to realize that it’s a just a shallow idea, to garner meaningless comments. Quite a lot of times it so happens, that I like a photograph on Flickr, but I cant find the right words to frame a meaningful comment, in such a situation I just add it to my favorites and move on. Similarly I understand that you might like one of my photographs, but you can’t come up with the right words to express yourself, that’s ok, just “fav. it”, but please don’t add any awards/badges and/or invitations. The no. of views and favorites, per photograph is more important than the no. of comments. If you are among my contacts, I can assure you that I see your latest work, regularly, however its impossible for me to comment on all new uploads. I have had my fair share. of hate mails, from fellow photographers, who couldn't accept a negative (but at the same time constructive also) comment, that I made, about a technical flaw in one of their photographs. So now I think twice before pointing out any flaws in other people’s work. If you find a negative comment from me, on any of your work, please don’t consider it as a personal attack on yourself, and I offer you my apologies in advance.

Photography is not my “primary source of income”, so I don’t commercially advertise my work, and all my work on Flickr is free for use on your blog or website, under the creative commons license. I will never ask you to pay me a dime, euro or peso, however I will expect you to drop me a line, and credit me with a link back to my photostream, if and whenever you use one of my photographs. Until now I have not had any bad experiences with copyright legalities, but if in future I run into some copyright issue, then I might reconsider my decision to keep all my work under creative commons attribution. Free use of my photographs is applicable only to small and medium size images, (approx. 500px. On the long side), and only for onscreen purposes. If you want a large hi-res. version of any of my work, for print purposes, I would be happy to negotiate and strike a deal. I keep hi-res. TIFF files of most of my work, for future print opportunities.

That’s about all I have to say, I’ll leave you now to explore, my photostream, further.

Please don’t add any awards/badges and/or invitations, to my work.
