"Did someone else see that?"

As a photographer, it is easy to get caught up in the energy of London. It is a city constantly in the process of self-creation and reinvention. Living here year-round, one is compelled to record the city as it moves through the seasons, to capture a history very much alive in the present

My relationship with the city would not be the same without my time in Australia, India, and the United States. Living and traveling abroad taught me to see what those who live in the midst take for granted. The long shadow of St. Paulís in a low winter sun, a young couple sitting in the bright green of the light under new leaves in Hyde Park, the monumental scale of the buildings surrounding Bank StationÖ these are the things I see as someone who is both an outsider and a resident.

I studied traditional photography at the Sydney Institute of Technology. Those years spent with large-format film continue to have an influence on my technique and style. Iíd like to believe that I have found a happy medium between the spontaneity that digital cameras bring and the deliberate care and planning required by a ten-pound Sinar X sitting on a tripod. Indeed, whether I am capturing the vivid reds and blues of Pondicherry or the dark, quiet intimacy of a painter in a Sydney garage, consciousness of placement and deliberateness of technique rule the day.
