The DuPage Library System (DLS) is one of nine regional, multitype library systems in Illinois that support local library services. Organized in 1966 under the provisions of the 1965 Illinois Library System Act, DLS includes 136 members, including academic, public, school, and special libraries in 390 facilities in parts of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, and Will Counties.

DLS is funded by the Illinois General Assembly through annual appropriations to the Office of the Secretary of State and State Librarian and dispersed using an area per capita and square mile formula. DLS is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of 11 voting members chosen by the library members in accordance with the system bylaws.
