"Kelly wasn't expected to win the contest since was a freshman member of the National Competitve Eating Association, but after only 10 minutes was upto 45 hot dogs. Sitting next to her, I was about 10 dogs behind when I realized she was actually cheating using the outlawed "Jabronie" technique to slip part of the bun down her shirt and into her lap, reducing her volume intake by about 20%. The pace was heated, but I was in no position to cry foul. She ended up placing second, and myself last, which was still surprising as I signed up for the event by mistake; I thought I had purchased a raffle ticket hoping to win a limited edition brass hair brush.
Later that afternoon we got to talking and came to find out that she's not only a slightly aggressive eater, but also friendly, funny and a creative photographer. But just don't buy her a hot dog; she won't finish her bun!"17th April, 2008
