D.S.Owens-Mind's Eye Photography

D.S. Owens is the founder and sole proprietor of Mind's Eye Photography, based in Aiken, South Carolina since 2001.

A dedicated visual storyteller, DS has built a reputation for capturing fleeting moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.

He is a juried member of the S.C. Artisans Center, the Art & Heritage Center of North Augusta, and several local guilds including the Aiken Artist Guild, North Augusta Artist Guild, and the Art Association of Ridge Spring.

A self-taught photographer and U.S. Navy veteran, DS has pursued his passion for photography since 1968. Over the decades, that passion has remained constant—and sharpened. His work is often classified as Fine Art Landscape Photography, though he draws equal inspiration from the textures, light, and quiet beauty of everyday life.

DS embraces what he calls “The Art of Seeing”—the ability to notice and translate subtle moments into powerful visual stories. He believes this skill can be developed by anyone who approaches the world with curiosity and patience.

His photography has earned him 84 awards, and he has been selected as an Artist-in-Residence four times through the South Carolina State Park system. His work is included in public and private collections, government buildings, and has been published internationally.
