Inspired by the Moderne Movement, D SCALE is a dynamic new contemporary furnishings and accessories store located in Boston’s burgeoning South End. It offers custom upholstered furnishings and case goods that are simple and well-proportioned, with the flexibility to fit into a variety of environments - all with comfort and a touch of glamour. The D SCALE collection of sofas, sectionals, day beds, chairs, dining tables and chairs, coffee tables, accent tables and lamps are available in an array of fabrics and finishes as well as custom sizes. Case goods and tables can be finished in an eclectic assortment of materials including leather, resin, shagreen (stingray), bone, horn, metal, and many exotic veneers. Complementing the D SCALE collection are furnishings by Brazil’s Emporio Beraldin and Italian leather sofas by Polaris.
Contemporary and Vintage Furnishings and Accessories
D SCALE offers contemporary and vintage 20th century furnishings and accessories from South America and Europe. These items were hand selected by Dennis Duffy and include chairs manufactured for Jean-Michel Frank, vintage ‘70’s B&B Italia dining chairs and a parchment cabinet in the style of Andre’ Arbus, along with Murano table lamps and even some re-conditioned finds from the local flea markets.
Artwork and Accessories
Artists are featured at D SCALE on a regular basis and exhibits include works by Stephen Sheffield, Liete Marcil, and San D. Completing the mix are ceramic vases by artist Sophie Cook, and sand casted glass by Amanda Brisbane. Decorative items such as pillows, throws, lamps, trays, and boxes are featured throughout the store.
Modernism as a perspective, not a style.
D SCALE is owned by award-winning interior designer Dennis Duffy, who when designing for his own clients, often times found that it was easier to design a piece to fit a particular space, than it was to search for it. And now through D SCALE, that choice is offered to both retail and trade clientele. The intent of D SCALE is to present modernism, not as a particular style, but as a perspective. The D SCALE studio portrays the ‘softer side of modernism’ and its furnishings and accessories are interesting, a bit luxe, and sometimes quirky.
