In most homes there are photographs of the family on the fridge, or framed in the halls of the house. In the home that I grew up in, there were photographs on every single wall, but none were of my own family. I lay in bed as a child and looked up at images by Cartier-Bresson and Adams. Kertesz was on the way to kitchen. I flipped through albums by Elliott Erwitt, and I think I got my sense of humor in part, from him. My friends would come over to play and it hardly dawned on me that there were nudes by Clergue and Weston that seemed to get a fair amount of attention.

There was a darkroom in my basement and drawers full of cameras in my room. I have spent my entire life looking at the world with a viewfinder around it.

I've had a career in filmmaking, web sites, education, writing... and all have only involved my photography a little bit. Now that i'm marginally more mature, i'm revisiting my longest and most preferred hobby.
