To me, the next best thing after words is images. Thus, I tend to think that untitled photos are like unnamed children.

I can't paint, I can't draw - but I can capture. I am self-taught ('learning by doing') so by visiting my pages you are a witness to my photographic evolution, self-analysis, neuroses, stupidity, and often times, me just having fun. Simply put, I like to risk self-discovery.

Photographic interests include: conceptual photography especially as it relates to psychology. Specifically, I like exploring anything transgressive, grotesque, unconscious and surreal.

I am what I am. Someone has to be.

"A legend in her own photostream"

"Joanne's originality and creativity coupled with her use of composition and perspective is of such a standard that her images are a visual banquet. Add to that a twist of humour, artistic flare and sense of social documentary and you have the whole package. She is a rare diamond and without doubt my favourite photographer on flickr."

"Pockets. Mechanical. Glasses hiding themselves in your backyard, spying on you when you aren't looking. Who's glasses? Dr. J's images bright my puddle. Solar power my periodic-yesterday. Hopping on an mathematic oxen when I view this lovely woman's intensely-poetic imagery. I cling and I release. I do it again, subsiding. I wish we could meet, or that she could be a hostess or me her hostess or perhaps collaborate. I've always wanted to bend two wormholes in space to make certain people's cities become twins with my own. She's one of them.

Please stream this stream thoroughly like you were a bright silvery-minnow. If you're not a bright silvery-something, you will be afterwards. I know I always am. My eyes like turnip-arcs.

Please keep shining. I don't get a chance to visit you often, but I always do, more-so than you realize, even if my cyber-mouth doesn't allow me to comment.

Shine on, you beautiful lampshade of magic!"

    Arty Smokes (deaf mute) says:

"Joanne is a thinking person's image-maker. Time and time again, her photos stop me in my tracks, leading me to question my own psychology as well as hers. There's barely a pixel in her photostream that isn't loaded with meaning, be it part of a psychosexual drama posed by models, a philosophical quotation-cum-qualification, or a macro of a dog's arse.
If Flickr is the new Algonquin, Joanne is the new Dotty Parker, putting others in the shade with not just incisive wit, but also visual metaphors that charm and enthral. This is a stream for the open-minded aesthete, the literate, and the insane. If you think you understand everything about these pictures, you're not looking hard enough. It is, however, very rewarding to try.

    P.S. I lied about the dog's arse."

"I can't help to say something about Dr Joanne: long time ago I haven't found something that touched me so profoundly. A lot of people do a great work...but we are so imbued by thousands of images, there's so much stuff, that it's very difficult to find something reaaally great. And that's Dr Joanne's work. I admire it, as many people do...It's outstanding in the best way. I'm trying to find my way in producing worthy images in different techniques...She has done it sooo well!!!"

Her erotic, engaging and poignant "Sex and Psychology" is just one of many examples of her wonderful visual curiosity, artistic expertise and masterfully evocative depiction of the human condition. Woven with a creative, non-judgemental eye and a keen sense of balance, her's is work worthy of high praise and intelligent commentary."

"i adore Joanne because she is REAL, AUTHENIC, GENUINE plus all the other synonyms left related to the TRUTH. looking at her photos is like having second life experience, not only one's own but one's own delux. Joanne is so human, that it's simply unforgivable. in the world of progress 24/7 we need to remember about what we are and where we come from, what are our roots, nature and basic instincts. that's what makes Joanne an artist - she remembers about human_brain_body intimacy and passes the memory (knowledge too) on. dzieki, Aska."

    "THEBES L'OBSCURE

    Trouble ton image
    Pour récuser mes énigmatiques pictogrammes.

    She is a true artist.
Not enough words could describe her.
When i think of her photographs i remember a quote by Ansel Adams:-

Me I'm just a dork with camera trying to make fun of life but you, DrJ,.. you are the mistress of a synaptic visual, verbal, wonderful, witty, sensuous, all engaging experience here on flickr...and no I cannot say any of this in Polish, muzch to my schzame!

As admin to the group, Sex and Psychology, Jo you have added a new and much needed dimension to flickr groups - so all go participate, learn and enjoy.

Jo your creativity seems to have an unfathomable and unending depth that continues to amuse and amaze me. We should all be mindful of your feminine teeth!

Her images reveal an intense curiosity and creativity to explore intensely personal and provocative images....it is relatively easy to create images that are "pretty", "well composed", "interesting", etc., but The Joanne, Dr. Person, brings an intelligence, a consciousness to her images, and the talent to make the camera do what that consciousness intends....bravo gurl!"
