If one is curious about the nickname, I suggest reading about it here.

There are two main hobbies that occupy my free time. One being photography, which is why I joined Flickr, and the other being genealogy, which unfortunately I am no longer active due to family obligations.

I can trace the photography bug back through the generations to my Great Grandfather who did it professionally in the early 1900's in Hungary. I have never been able to find one of his photographs, although I have proof of him calling himself a photographer, through Ellis Island records, when he came to visit his sister.

Family Lore indicates that I started taking pictures with a little Kodak Brownie from about the age of 7, through a stage with a 120 mm camera. The same lore also seems to indicate that I may have shot a few with my late Father's Exacta. In my teens, I received a Pentax Spotmatic and shot with it until I received a Pentax SuperProgram back in the '80s. These days, my camera of choice is my Nikon D300, although I still use the D70. I know that I will never go back to film.

Since arriving on Flickr, what now seems ages ago, the acceptance of my photography by the site's members was totally unexpected and still humbles me. As our lives move forward, so does the ebb and flows of the many friendships I have made on Flickr. Thank you all for the journey! A hearty thank you to Howard for his most loyal friendship, and forcing my hand at photography to a higher level.

Nearly all of my photographs have the date and time stamp in the title in the form of YYYYMMDD-HHMMSS in the parenthesis, or Year Month Day - Hour Minute Second, as it is my default storage format. To All those that visit:

I try my best to respond to all of the interactions on my photographs, as best as I can, given current real-life issues. I greatly appreciate your visits, favourites, comments and any other interaction. Your acceptance of my photography was totally unexpected and still humbles me. Real life has taken a funny turn for me these days. I find that I can't be on Flickr very much, so try to get around as best as I can when I am on. If I haven't visited, please don't be offended or think that I am ignoring you. My elderly parent is my first priority.

Note:, If you have NO icon, NO publicly viewable photos, and NO profile, then I will likely block that account.

Lately, some public photo pools have been turned into private ones, by rogue admins. This is truly unfortunate as they were some really nice public groups. I should mention that I choose not to participate in private photo pools, as only the members see the photos and the public will never know of the existence of the group.

"Don't let his screen name scare you into believing he's not the sweetest guy around... always ready to extend a helping hand to those in need. This guy is as sweet as cherry blossoms, with an amazing integrity and a quick, impish sense of humor as well! Plus, he's a great photographer. Some of his flower shots are my all time favorites. I'm glad to have met you and happy to call you a friend!

I had many contacts and none compare to his straight forward character,
fairness and sometimes good sense of humor …

"Not only is DrgnMastr one of the finest photographers on Flickr, but
he always has the time to give advice, comments, invitations, and
thank-yous to his fellow Flickr friends! When I first joined Flickr I was
brand-new to the computer world. He helped me figure out how to
make my way in the Flickr community, answered all of my technical
questions, and most importantly gave me friendly advice about an
innocent photo (to me anyway) ,of my grandaughter that could have
drastic consequences on the internet! I'm not as naive as I was then
& can get around pretty easily, but I wouldn't hesitate to ask for his
help if I needed it. He will always be a special part of my Flickr life &
did I mention that he is an amazing photographer too!! When I visit
his photostream I always find treasure!!"

"DrgnMastr was one of my first contacts in Flickr. His words of encouragement and his comments and recognition of my photos have served to encourage me more than he probably will ever know. His photo’s are amazing; work that I can only aspire to. I encourage him to share with me any tips, tricks and critiques that he is willing to. I would hope that perhaps one day we would be able to meet in person. A very good Flickr friend; I raise a toast to DrgnMastr"
