Biography
Drew Cohen, artist, was born in Toronto in 1966. He lives there with his wife and two children.
Artist Statement
Minimalism is in my soul, my daily life and my art. I'm drawn to simplicity, that which is clean and pure. Painting in the abstract allows me this purity and freedom. I can strike the canvas without feeling the need to reference something. I have absolute carte blanche.
My work is about life, love, people, their passions, fears, and thoughts. One of my greatest joys is to evoke a reaction from my art. It could be as simple as a smile or as complex as a deep contemplative thought.
My mind is transfixed, in an altered state when facing the canvas. I am myself and not myself.
There are no sketches, no preconception, matter just flows.
