I lost most of my vision as a young boy and began to draw on huge sheets of paper with a thick charcoal stick. After eye surgery on both eyes I went to art school for four years in South Africa following it with three years at Art Center College of Design. I graduated cum laude and drove straight to New York and had the greatest time imaginable. I worked for giant concerns and tiny firms, danced at punk clubs until six in the morning, then I got married to Gayle Dallas Blackston, lucky me, and after 15 years in NYC we went and lived in South Africa for ten years. I painted large abstract canvasses which hang in private and corporate collections in eight countries. I returned to the US in 2000 before some common criminal shot me dead in Johannesburg, a daily occurrence in most neighborhoods. I became art director at Silverlight Productions, and after three years in Rhode Island, moved to Bedford New York, working on large-scale surface patterns for interior architects. I founded DOON, took tens of thousands of photographs, made thousands of patterns and founded DOONCARD, a custom card service that runs today. Whilst pursuing work that uses new materials and production processes, I read and learn, I design and take photographs, and I still dance. We live in Riverdale, New York.
