How many miles to Babylon?
Three score miles and ten
Can I get there by candle-light?
Yes, and back again.
If yur heels are nimble and light.
Your can get there by candle-light.

- Mother Goose

My graphic work consists of appropriation, amalgamation and distortion of psychologically charged imagery transformed through the process of drawing, sketching and doodling, utilizing cheap and easily available forms of reproduction

By creating fantastic and implausible compositions depicted with humor and irreverence, I explore the relationship between spontaneity and contrivance - committing a sort of static vivisection I engage in a continuous game of exquisite corpse solitaire as a way to surprise and beguile the viewer.

Underling themes are monstrosity, ambiguity, metamorphosis and decay – not necessarily in the biological sense of the word, but rather as a radioactive isotope would decay. Themes expressed in these images record a constant, caustic, and ever evolving state - a process and exercise leaving its own detritus behind as visual evidence.

The role we play as participants - passively or not - is giving sentience, perception and ultimately life itself to this evidence; which I believe is the essence and purpose art and creativity performs as a way to explore and reflect this experience.

"There is this delicately creepy and surreal world you can tiptoe into, quietly, because you don’t want these singular, highly-specialized, gossamer creatures to be frightened and run off never to be seen again. These are endangered species that only one man has had the privilege to know intimately.

Conor Ryan graciously allows us all to go on a mutant safari with him and his beings with nipple whips and impossible genitalia, and fine lines, and gorgeous draftsmanship, and breathtaking understatedness (drawing with blue ball-point pen on notebook paper), and the kind of imagination and talent that can only make me say, “ConorRyan, would you someday please come to dinner at my house and sit and talk about politics and right and wrong and fantasy, and your idea of a perfect world and lines and what it means to have this kind of keen artistic vision? PLEASE?” My only wish is that he’d grace us all with more, more, more. I’m a CR addict, I admit this here and now with pride.

PS He is also one of the coolest flicksters and THE most talented, free-form image-tagger I know. **hugsss to you, CR!**"

""""Wow-what a wonderful surprise! Conors work is like a travel adventure. The art is very unique-one minute you are in a the very dark contrast that shadows his portraits and the next minute your in a bright beautiful space I think the site is more like a journey. It is one I have enjoyed taking and will continue to come back for the ride. A super image trip!""""
