I'm fortunate to live near Asheville North Carolina, referred to by some as a "marvelous music mecca nestled in the majestic mountains of the Blue Ridge". Asheville has been known for it's musicial traditions for many decades but in more recent decades it's developed a reputation for a much broader spectrum of music ranging from indie pop to rock to jazz to the avant garde.

Recent events such as the 9-day Asheville residency by The Smashing Pumpkins and the annual Warren Haynes Christmas Jam have turned the national (and international) spotlight on Asheville.

The Asheville Music Scene is constantly growing and expanding but it's impossible to define an "Asheville Sound". Asheville has an eclectic mix of genres and styles and the creative juices seem to flow constantly as musicians cross genre boundaries and explore new territories and fuse styles into something new and unique.

My Flickr page contains images I've taken of various local musicians and music events in recent years. I'm currently using a $300.00 FujiFilm "point and shoot" camera. I plan to upgrade to a Canon DSLR in the future, but for now I'm focusing on composition and content as opposed to the technical aspects of photography.

I'm striving to capture the breadth of the local music scene in Asheville rather than show off my technical prowess of photography.
