My photos show my own philosophy on life. I can see the beauty in almost any subject, whether it is attractive or not. I try to capture details and ideas that most people would overlook. I believe anything is worth creating an image out of if it is given the right perspective.
I enjoy experimenting and distorting images to give simple objects different meanings. Imperfect photos with light leaks, overlapping exposures, and unbalanced compositions have become a new love for me. I like creating an image, not just taking one.
My favorite thing about photography is when someone gets a completely different interpretation from one of my photos than what I would have imagined. I like creating new ideas and thoughts. Anyone can take a pretty picture, but I want to make an image that gets people thinking. I don’t care what the viewer’s opinion of the photo is, as long as they have an opinion. I want an emotion to be felt with every shot. It doesn’t matter if it is a positive or negative feeling, as long as something is felt.
Everything influences my photos. Music, experiences in life, other photographers, different cultures, and everyday people have an impact on the images I take. Keeping an open mind creates more ideas to use behind the lens.
Photography is my way of opening up my mind and expressing things that cannot always be verbally explained. It’s my way of spending time with my friends, and either exploring different places I have never seen before, or discovering new perspectives of familiar places. Photography has become the way I think. I can easily form images in my mind. I have a great eye for details and a sharp memory. Photography is one of my favorite talents and one that I love to use the most.
