The line between professional and hobbyist photographer is undefined in my opinion. Either way it goes, I consider myself a hobbyist since I enjoy taking photos, and it's not a source of income. Sure I wish it were but I often wonder if that'd take the enjoyment out of it.
I picked up my first SLR camera (Rebel XT) in 2007 and have since expanded my arsenal to a 30D + 50D and a few lenses, speedlites, triggers, and light modifiers. I do have a bad habit of always wanting to take a "strobist" approach when the photo may not call for one, hell lights are cool...lol
