"Excuse me."
"Excuse me...Hey. Could we do that again? I know we haven't met, but I don't want to be an ant. You know? I mean, it's like we go through life with our antennas bouncing off one another, continously on ant autopilot, with nothing really human required of us. Stop. Go. Walk here. Drive there. All action basically for survival. All communication simply to keep this ant colony buzzing along in an efficient, polite manner. "Here's your change." "Paper or plastic?' "Credit or debit?" "You want ketchup with that?" I don't want a straw. I want real human moments. I want to see you. I want you to see me. I don't want to give that up. I don't want to be an ant, you know?"

-Waking Life

Lately I've been rounding out my philosophy of photography. Basically, I like to think of my photography as a visual diary of my life. Like most photographers, I try and keep my camera with me at all times, and whether I'm traveling, studying, or drinking coffee with friends, I think that there's always a photograph waiting somewhere in the wings to be taken and used as sheer evidence of my existence. Sometimes my existence isn't always that interesting, and sometimes i'm stuck on photo assignment for the school newspaper, but every photo documents a moment of "here and now" that ultimately, when strung together with other "heres" and other "nows," make up a life. Maybe this isn't the most eloquent way of saying this, but these pictures are my attempt to chronicle the life of a middle class suburban white kid with an attention to detail for the who and the where and the when.

"What is that feeling when you're driving away from people and they recede on the plain till you see their specks dispersing? - it's the too-huge world vaulting us, and it's good-by. But we lean forward to the next crazy venture beneath the skies."

"Aaron has an excellent photographic eye, and somehow consistently manages to capture the most brilliant colors. He's also an all-around nice guy. If you randomly come across him on Flickr and learn he happens to know three of your best friends, do not hesitate to meet him."

    "He's a kid in a candy store, he's a bull in a china shop
He's a tired old metaphor for everything I can't afford
And everything I can't afford to be

He's a public embarrassment, He's a bottle of diet poison
He's a walking advertisement for everything he never meant
And everything he never meant to be

and he can't hear a thing, cause he's stopped listening.

I enjoy the photography of dietpoison and, no, I'm not a 40 year old fat lady stalker interested in 18 year old boys from Portland. So get that thought right out of your head, duckie.

I enjoy the perspective, the music shots of BNL, the Macalester shots, the black & whites, the Waldo Lakes camping shots -- It's a beautiful perspective that he shares from his little corner of the world.

glad to have had my eyes find his work through flickr. Nicely done. Keep up the good work."

    misspiepie says:

"Happy-go-lucky, spontaneous, carefree, exuberant, animated, energetic, intelligent, amiable, and artistically gifted (at least with photography and stick figures). I think that sums up Aaron Brown pretty well. Even in a pessimistic atmosphere of whiny high school kids complaining about college and their futures, Aaron always amazingly remains optimistic. Cheers, mate."

"Aaron is what I call a very liberal kid and is starting to develop what some photographers call "the eye." A young lad of just 17 years, he has a bright future ahead of him."
