Diane Deans was first elected to Ottawa City Council in November 1994. In October 2010, Deans was re-elected to her sixth consecutive term. She proudly represents over 48,000 south-end residents who live in Gloucester-Southgate Ward.

In addition to sitting on Ottawa City Council, Diane is Chair of the City’s Transit Commission.

Diane is also a member of the Finance and Economic Development Committee and the Transportation Committee.

City Councillor Diane Deans is best known for her hard work and dedication to her constituents. Among her many accomplishments, Deans cites the current expansion of the Greenboro Community Centre and completion of the Greenboro District Library, construction of the Albion-Heatherington Recreation Centre, enhancements to park facilities across the ward, and improvements to community safety.

Diane Deans believes in providing quality public services at a cost taxpayers can afford. She has worked tirelessly during budget deliberations to ensure services important to the public are adequately funded and that taxes are minimized. She has been recognized as an effective leader on Council who last term chaired the CPS Committee and now leads the Transit Commission.

In addition to her work in the community, Diane also serves as an executive on the Social Housing Services Corporation (SHSC). She also chairs the corporation’s Policy and Priorities Committee and its Political Advisory Committee.

Diane Deans holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Guelph. In 2006, she received the Consumers’ Choice Woman of the Year Award.
