"It's the photographer that makes the shot, not the equipment." A photographer should always be learning during a shoot. Multiple shots to get that lighting, DoF and composition just right on that still... There's always room for improvement to get the ultimate shot that moves people.



Me? Amateur photographer from Delft, the Netherlands. Got my first analog SLR in 1992 (a Canon EOS1000F). In the new digital era, which renewed my interest for photography, I switched to Nikon dSLR. What I really like about digital photography is that you can control both shooting (every good photo starts with a good shot) as well as post-shooting (nowadays digital post processing and pre-printing) yourself.
Gear: I shoot using a Nikon D300s dSLR (previously D70s); main lenses: Nikon 50mm/1.8, Sigma 24-70mm/2.8, Nikon AF-D 80-200mm/2.8 and Tokina 11-16mm/2.8 (plus B&W circular pola filter). Flash: Nikon SB-600. Tripod: Manfrotto 055DB & 141RC head.
Post processing: I shoot in RAW (Nikon .NEF) format, so there's always a digital darkroom involved in my pictures. For post processing, I use Adobe Photoshop and Nik Color Efex filters.
Style: Favorites are stills and landscapes; in stills, use of limited DoF is typical for my style. In landscapes, I like to emphasize the clouds during the actual shoot (spot measuring, filters) and in post processing by optimizing the contrast and hue/saturation to a more dramatic level.
My goal? To take things out of their everyday environment and make them look special, even though it's just that coffee cup I use every weekend. To put it in other people's words: "In all things of Nature, there is something of the Marvellous" (Aristoteles).




You can visit my most interesting photos or you can view photos currenly in Explore. I am constantly reshuffling my photostream, adding new photos from recent shoots and deleting older photos of lesser quality, thereby setting a level for quality rather than quantity in my photo stream.
