I'm a self taught photographer, born in 1973.

I started taking pictures when I was about 8 using a Russian 'Kiev' rangefinder camera (35mm). It had no lightmeter, so all exposures had to be worked out in my head. When I was 14, I moved on to Praktica MTL3, which I bought new for £79. It was very heavy and the mirror would often cause shake. It jammed up solid on me after a few years and I moved on to a 1960s Pentax H3V, again with no lightmeter, although worn, it had a fantastic light shutter action and gave good results. At 16, I got a Pentax ME Super, which was lovely to use. I now use a Canon EOS 350D, Minolta Dynax 505Si and sometimes my Cameraphone.

I prefer black and white, and used to enjoy darkroom work.

I'm married to Sarah and we have twins (Ashley and Taylor).

I live in Northampton, where I work for Royal Mail as a postman driver. I used to be a bus driver for First Northampton and Jeffs coaches.

I'm interested in railways; particularly the London Underground and buses. I used to own an ex-Nottingham City Transport Leyland Atlantean STO 526H.
