My photoblog can be found here.

I've been taking photos seriously (ish) since about 2000 when I got my first SLR as a graduation present (a Pentax MZ-50).

In my armoury, I've still got the MZ-50, but I usually shoot using a Canon EOS-5D Mk II with a 24-105mm or 50mm lens. I started borrowing a 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM recently, which is immensely good.

I particularly like black and white photography and taking pictures of architecture and people, but anything makes a good subject. I'm always trying to improve general techniques before defining a genre of photography in which I am a specialist/enthusiast.

If I could go and photograph anything in the world, I'd either head to South America or up to Scotland to explore the Highlands again. I took the MZ-50 there back in 2000 and 2001, but haven't been back since.

Favourite city in the world? Tough one, but Paris would be high on the list, as would Stockholm and New York. London was my home for a few years, so it has to be in the top 5, and Toulouse in the south of France completes the top slots. Now, where do I put Berlin? Great city...

For Mrs C's benefit: I also love Kinlochewe in the Highlands, and despite the fact it isn't a city it really should be in my Top 5. It's more picturesque than any of the cities mentioned above. There's an expanse of land next to Kinlochewe which is as large as Greater London and contains no civilisation. There's even a warning, telling people of its remoteness. Marvellous, unspoiled part of the planet which I hope never changes.
