I have enjoyed photography for years using a basic film camera. Our first digital camera was a 3.2 MP HP PhotoSmart M307 which introduced us to the instant gratification of digital photography.

Our second camera was a 5MP Canon PowerShot A530. I was amazed how dramatically better this camera was compared with the first one. With the HP, unless you were outside in the sunshine, you had to work to get an acceptable picture. The Canon would do a fairly good job no matter what the conditions.

As I began experimenting with photography in a greater way, I began to run into some of the limitations of the A530. I began researching cameras that could do a little more and found the Canon PowerShot S3 IS was especially interesting. It has a great macro mode and a 12x optical zoom lens that makes it a very flexible camera. Last summer Canon released the PowerShot S5 IS. We purchased one in September 2007. I've been very pleased with this camera. It is very versatile, and gives the option to add various filters and lenses and flashes. My wife still likes the smaller A530 better. (That keeps us from fighting over the S5.)

Most of my pictures on Flickr are "non-personal" although I have sneaked a few in here and there. I have several pictures posted of our cat and dog because they haven't told me they minded having their faces on the internet.

I am a born again Christian and a member of an Independent Baptist church. From time to time I may add a verse or comment that gives a spiritual perspective to a picture.

I have tried to keep the number of contacts low, because I want to view and comment on their pictures several times a month. If I see something in your profile that gives me some indication that we share a similar interest, or if someone has been active in commenting on my pictures, I will add you as my contact. I also try to comment on a photo of anyone that comments on mine whether you're my contact or not.
