Without a doubt, I really like oil paints. Their transparency and brilliance, applied alla prima outdoors, is a transcendent experience for me.

I have lived and worked most of my life in Alaska. However, the years are adding up as are the aches and pains and island living can be strenuous. These days, we spend part of the year in the Pacific Northwest on the high desert reaches.

I am captivated by the underlying abstract design that I find in nature. I love the dramatic light of sunset.

Recent years have brought me some studio projects, and I have been using acrylics as well, and (as my photostream will tell) I am exploring topics other than landscapes, even flirting with (well honestly, more than flirting... a girl never tells) illustration.
