I have been taking photographs for about four years now. Having never taken a class I am very appreciative of sites like Ken Reckwell and recently Strobist, but mostly I appreciate all the people here on Flickr.
I try to find the balance between my engineer's fixation on equipment and technology and the just stepping back and seeing the world. Not always an easy exercise but thankfully my wife is cool with me hauling large piles of equipment on vacations.
