A third generation Californian and long-term resident of London. I'm a writer and urban designer and consultant, bringing together a wide range of disciplines, colleagues and thinking to create outcome. Currently I'm "Devonport Resident Curator" creating and implementing an Arts Strategy for Devonport, Plymouth, England as part of the area's £48M urban regeneration money from central Government's New Deal for Communities fund. I was a contributing writer to 1001 Buildings You Must See Before You Die (October 2007), and am General Editor of the next book in the series "1001 Houses You Must See Before You Die". The books aim for short, sharp entries without impenetrable architectural jargon. I style my entries for those with no architectural knowledge while providing at least one new viewpoint for professionals. Houses won't be published until 2011, but the hunt for the right dwellings begins now!

Photos on flickr are an invaluable resource for me when I write. Thanks to all of you, especially those who post unusual building angles. They really help me formulate ideas!

Despite coming from a family of photographers (the second bathroom was often in use as a darkroom), I use my camera as a recording/documentary device, and don't attempt any "art" shots! My flickr photos are open source, but please let me know if you link or wish to publish a shot!
