Hello to all that visit!

Welcome to Henderson Images on Flickr. My name is Demond Henderson. I was born in Oakland, CA and still reside in the Bay Area. I work as an Aerospace Technician with a background in Electronics. I joined Flickr to display my images, reach out to other photographers, and share my interest in photography with those whom are also passionate about photography.

I first picked up a camera when I was about 16. It was a Pentax K1000, owned by my step-father Tony(R.I.P). I didn't shoot much(no money for film), but my most memorable shots from that time were of the collapsed Cypress Freeway structure during the '89 Loma Prieta earthquake.

I enjoy shooting sports, HDR's, artistic nudes, glamour, flowers, and urban subjects. Post processing usually includes cropping, exposure, and sharpening using Photoshop Elements 7. Importing and file management is done in Lightroom 2. My HDR'S are processed with Photomatix Pro. For B&W conversions I often use Nik Silver Efex Pro.

My gear consists of a Nikon D300s, D40, D40X, Nikon 18-55mm(non-VR), Sigma 70-200/2.8, Nikon 35/1.8, Nikon 50/1.8, Nikon SB-600 Speedlight, 2 Vivitar 285HV's, 180ws Strobe, (2) - White Shoot-thru Umbrellas, (2) - Silver Umbrellas, Honl Grids, GOBO's, and Gels, and a Gold/Silver Reflector. For flash triggers I use Paul C. Bluff's CyberSyncs.

I only listed my gear for those who want to know what I shoot with. I, like many others, suffer from "gear lust". But, I also realize that the gear is just a tool that helps me in the creative process. I have seen many mediocre images created with far more capable cameras. I shoot with the "little" D40, which proves that it's not the camera, but the photographer that makes great pictures.

In conclusion, you can follow along with my progress on this great journey that is learning photography. If you learn something - then I'm happy. If not, know that I'm not here to teach anyone - anything. I simply want to log my experiences, so that I can look back later and see how far I've come. I am by no means an expert. The term "Amateur" applies to me since I do this simply because I love it, not to get paid!
