Hi I'm Tom, I'm currently based in London, UK, after spending several years in Edinburgh. I've been shooting for as long as I can remember, and working more seriously for the last few years.

My photographic specialty tends to be portraits, events & documentary photography. I shoot weddings, gigs, and studio/fashion photos. I enjoy street photography, low-light/night photos, travel and landscapes, and sometimes dabble in some sports... will try most things that comes my way :)

Lately I've been shooting quite a bit of fashion material, and trying to get the most out of my studio lights! I have been working for the upcoming edinburgh based BSFX model agency - www.bsfxmodels.com

I shot for The Journal, an Edinburgh-wide publication, distributed across all 5 Universities.

I have been one of the official photographers in the photopoint team for Beltane Fire Festival. I have been official photographer for Balkanarama.

As well as photography I'm also interested in film production, having been involved with several short film and video projects. My latest work as cinematographer is in the short "Trophy", shot on location in Canada:

I have also been using Photoshop and other image editing programs for over 10 years, though currently most of my post-production is done in Lightroom for a more efficient workflow, with Photoshop being used for more complicated retouching work.

Most of my new public material I post on flickr, and I also have a selection of older public photos on my website (www.tombishop.net), although I'm currently working to upgrade this.

I am also very much involved with the scientific side of imaging. I completed a PhD in image processing at Edinburgh University... my thesis is on deblurring images (hence the name!) I worked at Heriot-Watt Uni on a post-doc on computational photography with a plenoptic camera, and now work for the makers of portrait editing software Portrait Professional.
